The developers have launched the second stage of the event Cultural Relics, where players are invited not just to come up with a new valuable item, but to actually integrate it into the game's lore. This is about so-called 'rare items' — the rarest items that can appear in raids and become part of Kamona's economy.
The main idea of the new contest is to return to real history. If previously the focus was on visuals, now participants are required to take a deeper approach: the chosen item must exist in reality and have cultural or historical value.
The event is titled Cultural Relics Vol. II: Legacy Rediscovered and is held under the idea of 'returning to the roots'. The developers clearly set a new quality bar: it is no longer enough to create a beautiful item — you need to create a coherent story, which will organically fit into the game's setting.
This involves full-fledged work with the narrative. The participant must not only describe the object but also answer important questions:
Who owned this artifact in the real world?
What value did it represent?
Under what circumstances did it end up in Kamona?
How has its role changed after the collapse?
Thus, the contest becomes a tool for expanding the in-game lore through community ideas.
To be considered complete, an entry must combine historical basis and in-game interpretation. Specifically, the work includes:
indication of the era or civilization (e.g., Vikings, Incas, Persia, etc.)
name of the item in English
brief historical context (what this item is and what role it played in reality)
'Dark Zone Story' — description of how the item ended up in Kamona and what it means in the Zone's conditions
visual description or concept (materials, appearance, effects)
Additionally, any visual materials are welcome — from sketches to full-fledged concepts, as this increases the chances of the work being noticed.
The event is divided into several phases:
submission of entries takes place from April 30 to May 20, 2026
showcase of works and community voting — from May 1 to 25
summarizing and announcing winners — in the last week of May
Thus, participants not only get a chance to submit their work but also time to promote it within the community.
The total prize pool is $1000, which is distributed across several categories. The main award directions are:
developer's choice — the best concepts may enter the official process of being added to the game
community choice — works with the most reactions receive awards ($20)
awards for originality and lore development ($20)
These categories are not mutually exclusive, allowing one work to receive multiple prizes.
A similar format was held earlier, and it received a good response from the audience. In particular, one of the works from the CIS community (a work from the audience of blogger DISTRUCT) became a record holder for the number of reactions, gaining about 150 likes. This demonstrates that even without guaranteed inclusion in the game, participants can receive significant attention and support.
Moreover, the developers plan to release a digital archive of the best works, where the most interesting concepts and stories will be collected after the event concludes.
Cultural Relics Vol. II is not just a contest, but part of a strategy to engage players in the project's development. Through such activities, developers receive:
ready-made ideas for in-game items
lore expansion without direct development costs
increased community engagement and activity
For players, this is an opportunity not only to win awards but also to directly influence the game's content, which is quite rare.
The second stage of Cultural Relics shows that developers are betting on deeper and more meaningful work with the community. It is no longer just a contest of ideas, but a full-fledged tool for co-creating the world of Arena Breakout: Infinite, where not only creativity but also attention to detail, history, and atmosphere are important.
